The Orion Amphitheater - The world’s longest-running Cigar Box Guitar Festival
April Mae & The June Bugs return to the world’s longest-running cigar box guitar festival at The Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, AL. Performances at 2:30 pm & 4:00 pm. Joining April Mae & The June Bugs on upright bass will be Nashville-based artist Eric Frey (The Red Stick Ramblers, The Revelers, and Kathy Mattea), bringing his roots music legacy and energetic upright bass prowess to the band’s “Roots, Baby Roots!” and “It’s All About the Boogie” swinging spirit. It’s an exciting reunion, as Eric previously joined April Mae & The June Bugs to record their “SUN Kissed” album at the historic Sun Studio in Memphis, TN. We’re also honored to be part of the festival’s celebration of Microwave Dave Gallaher - beloved musician and friend, at the heart of the festival’s legacy. This celebrated festival of roots music, handmade instruments, and deep vintage spirit will also host a “Vintage & Vinyl” themed market featuring vintage treasures, handmade goods, vinyl records, and more - the perfect backdrop for an afternoon steeped in timeless sound and style. Celebrate the spirit of American roots music with us at one of the world’s most beloved cigar box guitar gatherings. Attendance is free.
