Tina Guo & Hans Zimmer Charity Concert at the Vatican - AULA PAOLO VI
with Marco Frisina, Dario Vero, Hans Zimmer
On December 7, 2024, the Paul VI Hall in Vatican City will host the fifth edition of the “Concert with the Poor,” an event that combines artistic beauty and social solidarity. This year, it will feature the extraordinary participation of Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, along with composer Msgr. Marco Frisina and composer Dario Vero, who will conduct some of his works with the solo participation of Grammy-nominated cellist Tina Guo. For this important annual event, Hans Zimmer, the composer of some of the most renowned and beautiful soundtracks of all time including “The Lion King,” “Gladiator,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Interstellar,” and “Pearl Harbor”—will play and introduce his most famous pieces. He will alternate on stage with composer Msgr. Marco Frisina, who will perform some of his compositions for religious-themed films, featuring the Nova Opera Orchestra with 70 musicians from across Europe and the 250-member Choir of the Diocese of Rome, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. On Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 5:30 PM, the Paul VI Hall in Vatican City will host this extraordinary concert, attended by 8,000 people, including 3,000 indigent guests of various languages and religions, who will be honored as the event’s special guests. They are invited through the Dicastery for the Service of Charity - Office of the Papal Almoner and numerous volunteer organizations that support them daily, and they will receive a takeaway dinner and other comforts after the concert. The day will begin with a private audience in the morning for the artists and partners of Nova Opera with Pope Francis, underscoring the importance of the event in promoting values of solidarity and inclusion. The most needy guests are involved through the Dicastery for Charity and various associations in the region, including Caritas of Rome and Lazio, the Community of Sant’Egidio, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the Circolo San Pietro, the Astalli Center for Refugees, Acli of Rome, and the Community of John XXIII.
