The Jazz-Bins hark back to the past, but in a completely future-oriented way, to draw on a scene that never really existed, in the name of overcoming genres and classifications. A line-up that revolves around the Hammond B-3 by Gregory Lewis, one of the instrument's undisputed virtuosos, complemented by the drums of young talent Joe Dyson. Dense grooves and radical improvisation – but without ever losing sight of Marc's traditional 'moderation' –, which recall both the Sparky's jazz club in Newark and the New York CBGB temple, are the result of this new project that revolves decisively around the sound of the Hammond organ.

Their 1979 itinerary included what were the first Ribot concerts in Europe. Although the two never recorded together, Ribot never lost his affection, because McDuff's music and the Hammond organ dominated the Soul Jazz scene from which it emerged. Colleague Greg Lewis, is not only one of the greatest living virtuosos of the Hammond b3 organ. Says Ribot: “Greg is the best-kept secret in New York. He can tell a story about Hammond like no other.” Complemented by drummer Joe Dyson, the Jazz-Bins use deep grooves and exaggerated improvisations to channel the spirit of the Key Club Sparky J's Lounge in Newark or the CBGB in New York in 1977, in search of the salvation of punk/soul.

In his new mission to merge punk and soul, he is joined by Greg Lewis, who is renowned as one of the greatest virtuosos on the Hammond organ, and drummer Joe Dyson, who played with prominent names such as Dr. Lonnie Smith, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Nicholas Payton and Pat Metheny.

In fact, I always thought the two scenes had something in common, and since then I've been trying to express exactly that.
