ABOUT THE SLAMBOVIAN CIRCUS OF DREAMS "They're not just a band. That's like saying the Bible is just a book..." – Fairfield County Weekly A rootsy rockin' psychedelica, the Slambovian Circus of Dreams have been expanding the borders of the Americana genre with fantastic stories and performances since the late 90’s in Sleepy Hollow, New York. Voted "Best Band of 2022" in their home state of New York by Chronogram Magazine, the Slambovians' connection with audiences taps into a greater human-ness. Charismatic frontman, Joziah Longo, presides center-ring with vocals "Soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic", joined onstage by founding bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and the guitar-slinging skills of Sharkey McEwen, creating a show that constantly evolves "with a little help from their friends.” Touring bandmates also include RJ McCarty (bass, keys, sax), Bob Torsello (bass), and Matthew Abourezk (drums). Exploring the depths of Americana one trippy tune at a time, elements of Dylan, Bowie, Incredible String Band, Syd Barrett and The Waterboys flavor the musical mix. (Waterboys co-founder Anthony Thistlethwaite is featured on A Very Unusual Head). Woodstock-tinged psychedelia, a hint of southern rock and solid songwriting elevates this version of Americana to new heights. Currently touring their sixth studio release, A Very Unusual Head is considered to be "Their finest work to date." - Rock’n’Reel Magazine, UK. Fans of the band include: Garth Hudson (The Band), Dar Williams, Anthony Thistlethwaite (The Waterboys), Gary Burke (Bob Dylan, Joe Jackson), Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) "Top albums of 2022" – Rock’n’Reel Magazine, UK “They take the stage by storm!” – NY Times "9 out of 10 - Love at first spin!" – Americana UK "The cool end of Americana" - Maverick Magazine, UK “Longo is an awesome songwriter” – Garth Hudson, The Band "Great songs and a whole lotta heart" – Sirius diSorDer, SiriusXM “Simply one of the finest American bands” – All Music "The best band since the Beatles" – Jim Pons, bassist Frank Zappa, John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band New Album: "A Very Unusual Head" Recorded over the last four years in five studios and two countries, A Very Unusual Head is a kaleidoscope of songs by New York’s Slambovian Circus of Dreams. Opening their creative tent to notable performer friends: fellow New Yorker Dar Williams, Anthony Thistlethwaite (The Waterboys), Kolson Pickard (producer Tall Heights, Pico Romanesque) the songs and musical escapades of the band make for a sonically beautiful, creative and adventurous album. Inspired by the surrealist painters and Dylan as a 12 year old growing up in Philadelphia, Longo chronicles a bit of that journey honoring those who offer an intellectual/creative escape hatch needed to sort life’s big questions. A Very Unusual Head is the band’s sixth studio album released in 2022.

New York’s Slambovian Circus of Dreams has been coloring ‘outside the lines’ of the Americana genre with their fantastic stories and performances since forming 20 years ago in the Hudson Valley of New York. Their Woodstock-tinged psychedelia has a hint of southern rock, celtic and British folk combined with solid songwriting - a slice of Americana pie that is irresistable! This June the band returns to the UK following a wildly successful 2022 tour headlining Fairport's Cropredy Festival, Wickham Festival and more where they were voted “Best Band” by fans and promoters alike. Playing towns and festivals from Lochinvar to Penzance since 2008, the Slambovians’ touring history in the UK goes back several years, so they look forward to this tour where once again they bring good will, songs and a bit of magic to new audiences as well as the faithful who have been waiting. Joziah Longo (the resident shaman of Slambovia), leads with vocals described as "soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic.” Longtime bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and guitarist/mandolin wizard Sharkey McEwen bring their own magic to the Slambovian brew with “a little help from their friends” - RJ McCarty (keys, bass, sax), Bob Torsello (bass), and Matthew Abourezk (drums). Elements of Dylan, Bowie, Incredible String Band, Syd Barrett and The Waterboys flavor the musical mix (Waterboys co-founder Anto Thistlethwaite is featured on their latest album.) A Very Unusual Head’ is described as ”hilariously genius, philosophically cosmic, folk-metal mastery - the title track is a tip of the hat to the ‘irregular head’ of Syd Barrett and the theme of the album was inspired by the ‘outsiders’ of science and art. The album was included in Rock’n’Reel Magazine’s "Best Albums of 2022" and described as 'their finest work to date.' Exploring the depths of Americana with an artful edge, elements of Dylan, Bowie, Incredible String Band, Syd Barrett, and The Waterboys flavor the musical mix.

Flying Cat Music presents The Slambovian Circus of Dreams "Unplugged"
Trio show featuring Joziah, Tink, and Sharkey of The Slambovian Circus of Dreams Voted best Hudson Valley band of 2022 by Chronogram Magazine, Slambovian Circus of Dreams will perform in a rare unplugged trio performance by the acclaimed band’s founding members. Charismatic front man Joziah Longo, whose vocals have been described as “bewitching,” will be joined onstage by bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and the extraordinary guitar-slinging Sharkey McEwen. Since the late 90’s in Sleepy Hollow, New York, the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, part rootsy, part rocking, part psychedelic, has been captivating audiences with their unique sound and human-connecting lyrics. With elements of Dylan, Bowie, The Incredible String Band and Syd Barrett, the band blends Woodstock-tinged psychedelia, a hint of southern rock, and superb songwriting into their own unique brand of Americana music. Their music has garnered such musician fans as: Garth Hudson (The Band), Dar Williams, Gary Burke (Bob Dylan, Joe Jackson), and Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull). This Hudson Valley band “[takes] the stage by storm,” according to the New York Times, and has been described by All Music as “simply one of the finest American bands.” Come hear them play from their deep catalog and from "A Very Unusual Head," named one of the "Best Albums of 2022" (Rock’n’Reel Magazine, U.K.), before they go off to appear at festivals throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. “Longo is an awesome songwriter.” – Garth Hudson, The Band "Great songs and a whole lotta heart" -- Meg Griffin, SiriusXM "They're not just a band. That's like saying the Bible is just a book..." – Fairfield County Weekly https://slambovia.com/
